Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted on Thursday, and through an impressive show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's triumph, its skilled performers also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Performer for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself received Studio of the Year. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team won 7 awards throughout the show.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only 4 categories—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by reviewers.
