Ex-Treasury chief Lawrence Summers is exiting the directorate at the ChatGPT creator, just days after a series of emails between him and late convicted sex offender the accused trafficker became widely known.

He remarked in an announcement that he was "grateful for the privilege to have contributed, optimistic about the promise of the company, and look forward tracking their advancement".

The prominent academic, who once presided over the prestigious university, stated on recently that he would be withdrawing from public responsibilities due to his connections with Epstein.

In additional comments, the AI firm stated it accepted Summers' decision to depart.

This news arrives after both chambers of Congress decided on Tuesday to pass a legislation that would require the federal prosecutors to make public its records on Epstein.

The measure will then proceed to the office of US President Donald Trump for endorsement. Trump has indicated he expects to endorse the legislation, after changing his stance on the issue following objections from his followers.
