The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with equal glee, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose creations have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by having a different backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the core of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious style to the television.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
